In the eighties and nineties when we had our aromatherapy business the internet did not exist. Most aromatherapy companies did not make false or mis-leading statements about their products.
Today it is different. Companies marketing using social media constantly lie and present information in a misleading way, Fake News, Mr Trump would say. Equally back in those pre internet days the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) would be all over you if you made claims of a therapeutic nature. Today it seems that they no longer police that aspect or do not have the resources to do so.
Every day I see ads making horrendous and obviously not true claims about their product, often backed up with imagery. ask yourself if the product is so wondrous why is the NHS not prescribing it.
You might also notice waves of ads about the ‘in’ topic, Magnesium is the one at the moment a few months ago it was Turmeric. They, according to the maker of the ads are all the best thing since sliced bread and all will heal your affliction within weeks.
The other thing you will notice, The product ad is supported by hundreds of favourable comments and amazingly not one negative one!
However if the authorities cannot or will not stop this lying! then I can only urge you do your homework. The old adage is true , if it looks to good to be true, then it probably is.
Try to find companies that you can and do trust.
Sometimes companies are caught out and sometimes they are prosecuted. However, often the resulting fine or punishment is worth paying because they have made enough profit out of lying to you.
